Southern District Principals’ / Directors’ Conference
The above logo served as the theme for this summer LCMS School Exec’s conference. I feel it speaks to each of us as leaders in Lutheran school ministries today. We are moving at a fast pace and we need to be decisive and collaborative while also being supportive of each other – building a network that follows God’s plan for schools in the 21st century. We need a Lutheran school GPS!
We are blessed to have two presenters for our conference:
Spencer Peregoy (principal at St. John Lutheran – Ellisville, MO and recent National Distinguished Principal) Spencer will help participants on the “Changing Role of Leadership in Lutheran Schools.”. He will share a resource known as Strengthsfinder. His presentation will focus on building a professional learning community – which he has implemented among his school faculty. As leader, you will be challenged to do your own homework on what you believe are the areas that need to be addressed on your staff. He will share a self-assessment of educational trends with a degree of knowledge or importance that will help you set the tone for professional growth. He will also have some forms that administrators/directors can use when you go home to tweak or implement immediately.
Paul Brandt (Pacific Southwest District consultant and New Horizons Ministry Consulting based in Scottsdale, AZ) Paul will address the topic of "21st Century Lutheran Schools." Where are Lutheran schools headed? What will it take for Lutheran schools of today to survive and thrive in the 21st Century? Also, he will address marketing, funding, change, and 21st Century School Leadership. Successful ministries are blessed with effective leaders. Successful ministries allow their leaders to lead. This presentation describes characteristics of effective ministry leaders and the freedoms and limitations church and schools must provide to allow them to put the gift of leadership to best use for fruitful ministry.
We look forward to your presence and participation at our conference in Hattiesburg, MS!
